We left snowy Sherburne on December 30th. Did I say snowing, it was more like whiteout conditions even as we went through parts of PA. We stopped for the night at the Comfort Inn in Winchester, VA https://www.choicehotels.com/virginia/winchester/comfort-inn-hotels/va031?source=yext – the price was right, the room was clean, the staff was friendly (that’s my review). We pulled up to our friends house in Yadkinville, NC to celebrate New Year’s Eve with them and continued on our journey to St. Augustine Beach on Sunday morning. It was 76 degrees when we arrived at our condo which we booked through Airbnb. Super responsive hosts, clean unit, nicely furnished and a 2 block walk to the beach.

Our first night we had drinks and dinner at Panama Hatties 361 A1a Beach Blvd
Saint Augustine, FL 32080. We chose to eat at the bar so the service was a little slow, but the food was good.

We drove around on our first full day, found a Walmart for groceries and a few things we forgot but there is a Winn Dixie and Publix very close by.

We walked to the beach, paid $1 at the little store to access the pier where many people were fishing.

We ended our first day at the Sunset Grille http://www.sunsetgrillea1a.com with the most amazing Lobster Mac and Cheese I have ever tasted. The lobster with plentiful, the Mac and Cheese was made with perfectly done penne pasta and 3 cheeses. There was enough to feed a family of 4 so the leftovers went home with me. 

Curt chose the fried shrimp and black beans and rice which he tells me were yummy. They had several choices for sides and desserts. The waitstaff was friendly and it took no time at all to get our food. We will return to dine there in the near future.
